Battery cam pro won't charge via wyze solar panel

Fixed it for you.
Of course last night the girl that lives behind me put some homemade cookies by my front door on a plastic wrapped paper plate. I found them later, plastic torn and 1/2 of a cookie on the walkway. I blamed the two cats that were around but it was one of my possum friends that was Captured on WYZE.

Same - I originally thought it was not working because the original outdoor cams showed the lighting bolt but turns out the Battery Cam Pro does charge, albeit slowly. I just don’t understand why Wyze can’t just implement the feature so users can be assured their cams are actually charging. One of my many recent frustrations with them.

Recently got the bird feeder along with the solar panel and Battery Cam Pro. The camera works great and the birds love the food. But it won’t charge off the solar panel. Hooked it to one of my other Wyze panels that’s working and still no indication that it even sees the panel.

Wyze sent me a new camera and it’s the same thing. The panel will charge the battery outside the camera, but not through the camera’s charging port.

For now, I think I’ll set the feeder inside until they fix this thing. I can’t be running outside every few weeks to charge the battery.

I had the same issue. The solar panel was charging the Camera up until the Sun moved lower in the sky, so the sar panel angle became too low. I removed the solar panel from the Bird Feeder roof and placed it separately, with a higher angle, and its charging normally. I’m in Maryland so the Bird Feeder roof position for the solar panel might work in places further South in the Fall and Winter. Good luck!

I put a battery cam pro in a recently built shed loaded with some expensive tools. I purchased a solar panel 2-pack from Amazon after some extensive research and reading thru a lot of the offers. I was not impressed with the Wyze solar panels. So far so good, cam stays charged at 100% going into 3rd full week of solar power. I have to admit that I have unobstructed sun in the sky for the panel pointed south (I’m in the northeast) for much of the day. Power output and size of panels better than Wyze and usb c adapters were included. Also installed a solar multiple leds floodlight up near the roof that works great.

Same issue. Take the battery out of cam and plug into solar panel and it charges. Plugged the solar panel into my Samsung phone. No problem charging my phone but when you put the battery back in the Cam, does not charge. Differently and can issue.

Do you have the BCP turned on or off when you attempt to charge? If off, try charging with it turned on. I have 2 BCP’s on solar panels purchased from Amazon and always at 100%. 2 pack for the price of 1 Wyze panel and with higher wattage.

Hi. Yes the BCP is on. It solar will not charge when battery is installed in cam. If I take the battery out and plug in the solar panel directly into the battery, will wil charge.

Wondering if anyone has had a fix to this yet. I hate to return the cam and solar panel

What solar panels are you using? I’m thinking these 2.5 watt solar panels are just not enough power to charge the battery while the camera is on

Had the same problem. Contacted support, exchanged the camera for a new one, and that one works as intended with the Wyze solar panel.

I have 3 BCPs solar works with none of them. What solar panel are you using?

The Wyze Battery Cam Solar Panel. It has been working fine since I had the camera replaced. First BCP I received did not charge with solar panel with the battery inserted.

Interesting. I’d hate to think that all three of these gyms are bad

BTW the weird thing was that the battery did charge when plugging the solar panel directly into the battery, but did not charge with the solar panel when the battery was inside the BCP.

So it sounds like you had the exact same problem that pretty much everybody else is happening.

They probably are if the battery charges with the solar panel outside of the BCP.

I’ll give Wyze support a ring. How long ago did you get the new one?

It’s been a while, August 2023, It took a little going back & forth with support but they eventually replaced it.

The Wyze solar panels are 2.5 watts, enough to maintain a charge but inadequate for actually charging (in the cam). The solar panels I purchased from Amazon are 5 watts and will charge and maintain. With 2 panels costing just a couple $ more than a single Wyze panel, there’s no decision needed. You get a 10ft cable and a usb-c adapter. You just need to tape around the port for weatherproofing.

Do you mind sharing which panels you got?
