Battery Cam Pro Recurring Problem - When is the permanent fix?

I have found many threads with the same recurring problem with the Battery Cam pro. The problem goes like this:

  • Something happens (We don’t know what)
  • Battery cam goes into 5 min recording mode for every detection
  • Link to the cloud is broken (most videos have to be played from the SD card)
  • Battery life goes into the toilet

The community workaround for this situation is to delete the cam from your account, and re-add it. Some have had sporadic success with the “Reset Services” function or the “Restart Camera” function. (Those have never worked for me). It is not always obvious when the camera goes into this mode - you have to notice that your battery is now draining more quickly, and all events are now 5 minutes long.

Does Wyze have a real fix for this?

When is Wyze going to address this issue?

Other things I notice is that battery cam pros are not really good at negotiating wifi connections - they do not seem to connect to the nearest or “strongest” access point, but remain connected to the access point that was present when first registered - not sure why this is…

I have 4 of the BCP’s since launch. Haven’t had these issues. Very solid cameras.

Do you have the latest firmware on them?

Hi

Yes - I have four BCP’s and there is only one that has this issue (It’s actually my newest of all of the cameras). I am pretty OCD about firmware and such, so they are all up to date. This BCP functions normally for a while (as in 1-2 months), then this issue randomly appears. The delete and re-add workaround makes it go away for a time, then rinse and repeat.

If you do a search on the forum, you will find several posts talking about this issue. It is not every camera per se, but there are consistent symptoms across multiple users.

Thanks!
