App says there is v4 firmware update, but refuses to do update

Hello all.

Quick Context:
Samsung Galaxy S24+, running Android 16, One UI version 8.5
Wyze app v3.23.0 (989)
4 of 12 total Wyze devices are cam v4

I was getting the pop-up stating that there is a firmware update for the four cam v4’s that I have.
It stated that current version is: 4.52.9.6119 and the latest version is: 4.52.17.26

I initiated the update to take place on all four cams.
One of the cameras is showing successfully updated to latest version.
The other three cams did not update and will not update.
The firmware update screen will just say “Updating” forever but no update takes place, even after an hour of being on “Updating” status.
If I close the app and go back in, it will still continue to say “Updating” on the firmware screen for those three cams.
If I force-stop the app and go back in, it doesn’t say “Updating” anymore, it says “Update” once again indicating a new update is available, and you’re back to square one.
All three of the subject cams continue to work, they are showing live view and recording to SD Card (I don’t have a paid plan). All of my other Wyze devices are also functioning fine.
The issue is 100% repeatable. I’ve tried multiple times, same thing. I also tried clearing the cache to see if that helped, it didn’t.

Because the three non-updating cameras still seem to have full function as this is happening, I’m not freaking out about it, It’s more a curiosity thing as to why this is happening at this point.
I tried looking around to see if this was a known issue or not and didn’t see anything, apologies if I missed it.
Since the cams are working fine in the meantime, should I just leave it alone until another app update comes through that might address it?
Thanks in advance for any advice/wisdom on the subject.

This exact same situation happened to me and i made another post very similar to yours. What ended up happening for me is the cameras did stop seeing the new fw for a few days and, suddenly, they see it again and 2 out of the 4 automatically updated.

I manually did the other 2 but it took a while. I also power cycled them just in case BEFORE startingb the fwv update

Try going in to each cam and updating one at a time through the “device info” screen, wait for one to complete before kicking off another.

I can confirm that I have had to update “1-by-1” for the last several updates.

I can not use the MASS update page.

I have to go to each camera and update 1 at a time.

@dave27 @Earl.Automation thanks for replying.

Sorry, I should’ve mentioned in my OP that I have already tried both mass update and updating each camera individually and the problem still 100% repeats every time regardless of which method is used.

Probably not relevant to the issue, but they also continue to work fine via tinycam Pro as well.

I also tried restarting each camera just to see if that might somehow make them more welcoming to receiving an update and still no dice. I wasn’t holding out much hope that would help but I figured why not try.

Luckily and thankfully there has not been an issue with them being down throughout this happening. It’s just kind of weird that one of the v4’s zipped right through the update very normally and quickly and the other three are stuck in the mud for some reason. Weird.

Since one of the four finished on the same phone and app, I would hard power-cycle one stuck cam (unplug about 30 seconds) right before starting the update from that camera’s Device Info screen only, with the phone on the same 2.4 GHz network. An in-app Restart often is not enough when the OTA is already wedged on Updating.

I updated five V4 cams today one at a time, took 2-3 minutes for each cam with no issues. I use the iOS app.

Same thing with my one currently powered V4 camera. Have tried to update several times - both from the mass update and from the individual camera. Every time takes hours and does not complete. Camera has been power cycles a time or two.

Update. This time it worked… Go figure.

Maybe they refuled their server.
