Occasionally I see posts on here about people getting notifications for devices that have been shared with them, despite turning off notifications. Usually they get told it’s a none issue and will be fixed. I have multiple schedules, I have a favorite button as well as an attempt to stop these notifications. Nothing seems to stop them.
Anyone else get notifications no matter what you try?
BTW, the latest app release just happens to have added support for shared users to toggle notifications off (it’s an on/off only option) for cameras (several of the models at least) shared to them. I have -not- tried that yet because my shared users are not tech savvy and walking them through it only to have to walk them back later is not the best use of my time. But it -could- be another possible work around until Wyze sorts out their latest brain fart. :-/ (If you do test this, please share the outcome as it may assist others in the same boat.)
UPDATE: I’m getting reports from my shared users that this has not stopped “complete motion” notifications which is just nuts. See my related post.
I also have not tested the shared-access user notification control feature in the latest app, but I read about that when it was released. Since you tagged this topic for Android, I imagine that using a third-party notification interceptor/manager app (e.g., Tasker, BuzzKill, MacroDroid) should still work, as that has been one of the proposed solutions for a while now. I’ve long felt that Wyze should fix this in their own app, though, and make it easily workable so that third-party apps are unnecessary and so that iOS/iPadOS users also have a solution to the problem.
I’m just using the Wyze app, no third party apps. This forum just insists on making you pick tags, so I had to throw some on there. I use Android only, and there is a mix, and the shared camers are a mix of V3 / V4 (the other shared tags)
Right, and what I’m saying is that it’s been possible for Android users to essentially “screen” unwanted notifications for a while by using a third-party app, if so desired, but iOS/iPadOS users haven’t had this option, AFAIK, because of the control Apple imposes on that OS. I’m not saying that’s what you should do, but it’s something you could do and users have done to deal with this problem in the past.
Regarding the new Wyze app that @brian163 alluded to, it’s this:
Like I said, I haven’t yet tried that, but it’s something that should be available to you soon if it isn’t already.
Since the last update a couple weeks ago, all cameras except V4 is nothing but complete motion detected. I did all the suggest fixes and nothing works. Whatever Wyze did, they screwed up their code with a bug. I’ve never had this issue until now. Beyond frustrating.
You may want to start a new topic with your specific issue, since this one is specific to the fact that up until very recently shared users had to accept whatever notifications the main user had.
Your issue sounds different from that? Or are you a shared user of someone else’s cams?
In the new topic I’d give some details on what you’ve tried (like “reset services” etc) and what your settings are.
Is there any way we can turn this off? I do not want my shared user to be able to control the notifications. I am the primary user and I want to be able to turn off the notifications for me and my shared user like it was.
I haven’t tried testing this with a second account, but I imagine that Wyze’s goal with this is a result of many requests in Multiple Users' Permissions for Shared Users, where users frequently complained that if a primary/owner user had notifications enabled then there was no way within the Wyze app for a shared-access user to disable those and vice versa. I think enough people were disappointed that shared-access users were subject to unwanted notifications that Wyze finally decided to implement this for greater user flexibility, but that’s just speculation on my part. I’m unaware of any way to disable shared-access user notification control.
