Any guesses as to what is this?

I have my guess, and I’ll say we live near a great lake.

It almost looks like a swarm of insects… Or maybe bird migration? But the pixelation makes it hard to decipher.

Hard to say for certain, but the following are all real possibilities:

  • Bugs
  • Smoke
  • Mist
  • Fog

One of the above combined with low-light/night artifacts would be my guess.

Bring on the Grey Goo!!!

The most recent novel I read related to Grey goo was The Singularity Trap which was interesting enough, and if grey goo is going to happen, I wouldn’t hate it to go down that way.

I like nanite stories.

It's been a while since I've read a Crichton novel, but I really liked that one.

The last thing I read that was related to Crichton was The Andromeda Evolution, which was a huge disappointment. I guess it was written by a different author with Crichton’s widow’s permission as a sequel to The Andromeda Strain—which is an excellent novel and movie; the miniseries…not so much—but it was not a good read. :-1:

Maybe @yan’s “great lake” is really a secret research facility.

I have read NEARLY all Crichton novels

Including those under pseudonyms. There are a few postmortem books I haven’t gotten to yet.
I did read the Andromeda Evolution, but it wasn’t as good as most.

Yeah, knowing yan is near a great lake, I slightly lean toward the bug swarm theory, but some kind of vapor is also extremely possible. I sometimes get something similar from my swimming pool when it’s warm and the air is cooler.

Here’s another one today.

I am pretty sure it’s a swarm of midges. They’ve surrounded the neighborhood.

I also captured a dragonfly today on the cam. Hopefully it’s eating some of the midges.

Makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the follow-up. What threw me off in the first video was the weird pixelation on the far right side after their initial entrance.

But this second event is much more clear and normal for what I am used to seeing.
