All my power switches are losing connection randomly just like my outdoor power switch’s! My cams V2, v3, pan tilt zoom all working fine. I’m really getting tired that I have to power cycle these switches every day! Spending $2,000 dollars on a new router and extender did not fix the problem. As a Silicon Valley retired design engineer, my experience tells me it’s time to walk away from Wyze unless you can fix this on your next software update. My switches are located in the same small room as the router! Max distance to the furthest power switch’s is 6 feet. My cams are 30 feet away and working with now problems. My power switches started acting up during the last two firmware updates. Wyze seems to have lost software/firmware configuration and reliability!
I found this post because i am experiencing the same exact issue. I have a total of 20 switches in my house, and they all glitch out and start fast blinking multiple times a day, and they all start at the exact same time. I have 10 wyze cameras(various models) and they stay online during this time. I have a 5 node, tri-band wifi mesh system with hard-wired backhaul. I get 200-500mb up/down wirelessly in every room a switch is located. I even attempted to segment off a dedicated “IOT” 2.4ghz only network just for the switches thinking maybe the blended bands were the issue. I assure you my network is not the issue here. I have tested every scenario on that front and the rest of my smart home stays online while they are glitched out. I am not a smart home noob, and my smart home is smarter than most. I guest you could call me a smart home enthusiast. When these switches hit the market, i praised Wyze for delivering affordable smart home devices, so much so that i went all in with Wyze. Switches, cameras, stick vacuum, robot vacuum, scale, thermostat, purifier, headphones… Like.. I’m all in here. I need Wyze to step up and fix this issue ASAP.
D, I get it. I even thought it was a wyze power plug gone bad, so i purchased 4 more. No change, the newest power plugs do the same thing! It appears based on some limited network analysis, the wyze power plugs are creating a IP conflict whereas two power plugs are trying to use the same IP address. I was shock to learn this and monitored the behavior over 4 months. These wyze power plugs are randomly losing wifi connection during the night and tries to acquire an IP address again to reconnect again. There must be some maintenance program on the server wyze is running that is causing this to happen. The software changes are too far ahead of the maturation of reliability. I experimenting with reserving IP address on every power switch. So far, it seems to be working. If it continues to work, I’ll call it a customer based solution work around to the lack of maturation of reliability.
I’m having the same issue. I have a total of around 12 plugs and half just went down and even power cycle will not bring it back online. The issues started a few days ago.
The power plugs are still loosing connection. The max distance is no more than 6 feet from router. RESERVING THE IP AND MAC ADDRESS IN THE ROUTER DID NOTHING TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. No I am not yelling. Using caps to highlight to WYZE that they have a serious problem with this power plug devices. Cams working fine. Who going to pay me back for the 4 new wyzes power plugs that have the same problem? Who going to pay me for the expensive router that did not fix the problem either. Who gonna play me for the time I have spent troubleshooting this problem? My conclusion is Wyze does not have the technical knowledge and/or non existent/weak test program to ensure reliable software maturation. Ether way, this is hurting your image and IMHO, don’t expect you to be around much longer!
The power plugs are still loosing connection! Have to power cycle them now almost every day. No change in configuration here for over 2 years. The new power plugs are loosing connection too! CAMs are fine with no trouble. Spent around $2,000 dollars buying new router and equipment and new wyze power plugs. The power plugs are well within distance of a 2500 square foot WiFi router. So, what is the distance of the furthest power plug from the router? About 6 meet and has a solid signal. Yet, these WYZE power plugs Old and New are loosing connection and require a power cycle to get them to reconnect! At first, I was thinking the problem was software obsolescence to force an upgrade to a new power plug. But the new one’s are loosing connection too. Is this a WYZE server problem or design/software maturation problem? Wyze needs to step in and figure this out since multiple customers are reporting the same issue. This is unacceptable customer service!
