Are you sure it wasn’t always like that? Granted I only use SD card recording but my red lights have always been 5 seconds, no matter how long the motion/recording continues.
Regarding latency, 30msec really isn’t that high, I mean certainly not great but it should not interfere with any of this stuff, people use their cams over 5G cellular and even starlink, both of which are often higher than that. I’m wondering if you’re having packet loss or throughput issues at that location? Maybe the iPad just coincidentally managed to get through during a clean period and fix it…
I have 4 OGs at this location and 1 in the city and I also only use SD Card Recording - for all the red light stays on for 12 sec when there is a motion event … it coincides with the 12 sec cloud recording … which I never see since I don’t have a subscription.
Cams work fine … it’s the network communication protocols for the Reset Services command that didn’t seem to work.
OK just walked in front of my OG and it is 12 seconds, I’ve never counted before, didn’t seem that long. Not sure about my other models.
But that points even more to some sort of internet problem, the recording is cutting off early due to bad connection maybe? 30 msec definitely should not be a problem for setup or normal use. Or it is something on the android tablet that is totally unrelated to latency that is the issue.
I’m pretty sure the whole COVID thing messed up all our sense of time. My life is now divided into “BC” and “AC”. I can’t tell you how many years ago something was, just which of those two it falls into.
25 year career as network engineer and architect generally provides enough familiarity. I have a delay generator I could hook up, but there is really no reason to bother since there are numerous people in this forum that have very high latency connections, even starlink, and are using their cams with that.
I don’t think you’ll get a definitive answer from Wyze so I guess, if using your iPad to do it works, then you know in the future to do that, the reason isn’t really consequential, assuming everything else is working fine (i.e. streaming live and SD card video when away from the location).
